Taisho 1920s Hatsusaburo Yoshida
Illustrated map of Central and West Japan, including, among others, Mt. Fuji, Nagoya, Lake Biwako, Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe and Shikoku. Published by the Osaka Mainichi Shimbun in 1926 (Taisho 15).

This is a so called bird’s-eye view map by Hatsusaburo Yoshida (吉田初三郎, 1884-1955), who at the time was called the “Hiroshige of the present.” He drew tourist maps at a time when tourism was booming, making his work extraordinarily popular. Yoshida’s style is so unique, that these maps are called Hatsusaburo Style Bird’s-Eye View Maps (初三郎式鳥瞰図).

Because of the map’s gorgeous details, we recommend Large or X-Large. Maximum Width: 5386 pixels (45.6 cm @ 300 dpi).
