Nara Showa 1920s Unknown
A child crawls through a hole in a huge wooden pillar inside the buddhist temple Todaiji (Great Eastern Temple) in Nara, Japan. It is believed that if you can crawl through, you will have a greater chance of attaining enlightenment. Although Todaiji dates back to 743, the current building was constructed in 1709. In 1998, the temple was listed as an UNESCO World Heritage site.
