The Japanese government authorized the establishment of national banks in 1872. KK 133 Ginkou was founded in 1879 (Meiji 12) when it was split off from Dai 64 Kokuritsu Ginkou (Number 64 National Bank). It was based in Ginzachou, Hikone, Shiga Prefecture.

In 1899 (Meiji 32) the bank was renamed K.K. 133 Ginkou. In 1933 it merged with Hachiman Ginkou and moved its headquarters to Otsu in Shiga Prefecture. Simultaneously it was renamed Shiga Bank. The bank still exists and is the leading regional bank in Shiga Prefecture
