Namamugi near Yokohama in Kanagawa Prefecture. In the Namamugi Incident of August 1862, retainers of the Satsuma daimyo, Shimazu Hisamitsu, killed British trader Charles L. Richardson while he was riding on the Tokaido between Yokohama and Kawasaki.
