Men carry buckets with fish at the fish market in Nihonbashi, Tokyo in 1896 (Meiji 29). The market was destroyed by the Great Kanto Earthquake (Kanto Daishinsai) of September 1, 1923 (Taisho 12). It re-opened in Tsukiji in 1935 (Showa 10), where it remained until October 6, 2018 (Heisei 30). |
