Nagasaki Showa 1920s Unknown
A postcard with a photo of the residence of German physician Von Siebold at Narutaki, Nagasaki. Philipp Franz Balthasar von Siebold (1796–1866) taught Western medicine in Japan, and upon his return to Europe became a well-known Japan expert consulted by people like American Naval Commodore Matthew C. Perry, who would later force Japan to open its borders.
