Osaka Showa 1920s Unknown
This postcard from the 1920s shows Osaka’s business district of Kitahama. The photographer looked towards Naniwabashi Bridge, which is partly visible.

The brick building on the right is the Osaka Stock Exchange (大阪株式取引所). It was orginally located elsewhere, but moved to Kitamaha in 1894 (Meiji 27). Construction started immediately, but because all the time new extensions were added, it wasn’t completed until 1911 (Meiji 44). The building in this image was replaced with a new building in 1935 (Showa 10). That building has been torn down, too, but its iconic circular entrance still stands today.

The tall structure in the back is the Kitahama Building (北浜ビルジング).
