110706-0014 - Ohato Wharf Cannon Ball

PURCHASE A LICENSE

Nagasaki Meiji 1900s Unknown
The famous Cannon Ball at Ohato Wharf in Nagasaki. This iron ball was forged in 1638, and decorated the wharf for 350 years, making it a famous tourist attraction. As the only ball of its size cast during this period, it’s an important historical artifact. In spite of its name, the ball is probably not a cannon ball.
