The grand stand at Negishi Race Course (根岸競馬場) in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture. It was founded by the foreign community in Yokohama in 1866 (Keio 2). In 1943 (Showa 18), the course became the property of the Imperial Armed Forces and horse racing was stopped here forever.

This photo was published in the The Far East of Wednesday, November 16, 1870 (Vol 1, No 12). The newsmagazine was published in Yokohama between 1870 (Meiji 3) and 1878 (Meiji 11).
