140301-0008 - Firewood Dealer

Outside Meiji 1900s Nobukuni Enami
A dealer of firewood used for fuel. Japan’s high consumption of wood led it to develop a forest management policy as early as 1666, when logging was reduced and the planting of trees increased by order of the shogun.

Original text: “Wood -traders weighing fuel.”
