The Meijiza Theater (明治座) Hisamatsu-cho (久松町), Tokyo. In 1893 (Meiji 26), actor Ichikawa Sadanji I (初代市川左團次, 1842-1904) bought the Chitoseza Theater (千歳座) and changed the name to Meijiza. The building was destroyed by the Great Kanto Earthquake (Kanto Daishinsai) of September 1, 1923 (Taisho 12).
