Infantry maneuvers of the Imperial Japanese Army at the training grounds in Fuji-Susono, Shizuoka Prefecture. Mount Fuji towers over the scene. The Imperial Japanese Army started using the area in 1898. It was formally established as the Fuji-Susono Maneuver Area in 1912. Military bases that were established in the vicinity included Camp Takigahara (1908), Camp Itazuma (1909), and Camp Komakado (1936). The are is now known as the East Fuji Maneuver Area (陸上自衛隊東富士演習場).
