Advertising for National light bulbs in the Sunday Mainichi (サンデー毎日) of March 10, 1940 (Showa 15). This weekly Japanese magazine was established by Mainichi Shimbun in 1922 (Taisho 11) and is still being sold today. National was a brand of Panasonic Corporation (formerly Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.). It was used from 1925 (Taisho 14) through 2008 (Heisei 20). Founder Konosuke Matsushita choose the name “National” because he hoped that his products would be used all over Japan. |
