PURCHASE A LICENSE

Outside Showa 1920s Unknown

Color lithograph of a rooster crowing as dawn breaks over a farming village of farms with thatched roofs.

The illustration was used on a postcard encouraging farmers to buy fertilizer at the farmers’ co-op with the slogan, ‘one village, one heart’.

The postcard was published by Zenkoren (全購連), the National Purchasing Federation of Agricultural Cooperative Associations (全国購買農業協同組合連合会).

This organization was established in 1923 (Taisho 12). In 1972 (Showa 47), it merged with ZEN-NOH (全農), the National Federation of Agricultural Co-operative Associations.

Published no later than February 1933 (Showa 8).
