Issued: May 1, 1889 (Meiji 22) Design: Takenouchi no Sukune (武内宿禰), a legendary Japanese hero-statesman and Shinto kami. The bill was originally issued with Japanese serial numerals. In 1916 (Taisho 5) the serial numbers were changed to Arabic numbers. |
