Overview map of the Political Expo (政治博覧会会場全景) held in Tokyo from April 1 to May 20, 1937 (Showa 12). The expo occupied an area of 23,140 square meters and introduced Japan’s political breakthroughs during the Meiji, Taisho and Showa periods. It was organized by daily newspapers Tokyo Nichi Nichi Shimbun (東京日日新聞) and the Mainichi Shimbun (毎日新聞). It was organized to celebrate the completion of Japan’s National Diet Building (国会議事堂 Kokkai-gijido), visible on the horizon. |
