Illustrated postcard of seamen in uniform rowing a longboat towards an ocean liner to celebrate Marine Memorial Day (海の記念日, Umi no Kinenbi), ca. 1941 (Showa 16).

The memorial day was designated in 1941 to commemorate the 1876 (Meiji 9) voyage on the iron steamship Meiji Maru by Emperor Meiji (1852–1912), the 122nd Emperor of Japan.

Published by Japanese shipping company Osaka Shosen Kaisha Lines, better known as O.S.K. Lines (大阪商船株式会社, Osaka Shosen Kabushiki-gaisha).
