A New Year (賀正 元旦) postcard with illustrations of airplanes, factories, and the rising sun flag represented as a huge cogwheel. On the bottom features the text “Progressing Japan” (躍進日本).

This card may have been used to promote the Great Exhibition of Rapid Japanese Progress (躍進日本大博覧会, Yakushin Nihon Daihakurankai) held at Gifu Park (岐阜公園) in Gifu City, Gifu Prefecture from March 25 to May 15, 1936 (Showa 11).

The expo attracted 1,932,000 visitors.
