History print showing Taira no Kiyomori (平清盛, 1118-1181) confronted by a vision of hell and the ghosts of his victims while suffering from a fever. This print is based on an 1883 (Meiji 16) woodblock print by Japanese artist Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (月岡芳年, 1839-1892). Taira no Kiyomori was a general of the late Heian Period (794-1185) who established the first samurai-dominated administrative government in Japan. Taira no Kiyomori is the main character in the Tale of Heike (平家物語, Heike Monogatari). Title: Taira no Kiyomori Yurei ni nayamu. |
