Woodblock print map of the 88 temple pilgrimage on the island of Shodoshima (小豆島八十八箇所巡拝略図) in the Seto Inland Sea. The island is part of Kagawa Prefecture. The pilgrimage has strong connections with Kobo Daishi (also known as Kukai), the founder of Shingon Buddhism. The pilgrimage route is around 160 kilometers in length and circles the island. The map was published by Take Okada (岡田タケ) on March 20, 1901 (Meiji 34). Japanese title: 小豆島八十八箇所巡拝略図 動行三十四里五丁 |
