Shops in Honcho-dori in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture. The photographer stood near No. 60 where Maebashi-cho intersects with Honcho-dori. Gas lanterns line the street. The sign on the left advertises the pharmacy of Brett & Co. On the right a rickshaw is parked in front of the establishment owned by T. Bachelor, who interestingly is a hairdresser, cigar importer and dealer in postage stamps. In the back the Bluff at Yamate can be seen. Honcho-dori is also called Honmachi-dori in some sources. Maps of the time, however, use Honcho-dori. |
