Tokyo Showa 1930s Unknown

Yasukuni Jinja Shrine in Tokyo is dedicated to the kami (spirits) of soldiers and others who died fighting on behalf of the Emperor of Japan. Because 1,068 Class-B or C war criminals have been enshrined at Yasukuni, the shrine has caused much controversy, and diplomatic spats with Asian countries.
