70602-0005 - Mukojima Ferry

PURCHASE A LICENSE

Tokyo Meiji 1880s Adolfo Farsari

A few women in kimono, one sitting in a jinrikisha are waiting, while many people look at the camera at the ferry port on the Sumida River in Mukojima, Tokyo. The ferry shuttled people between Asakusa (in Taito Ward) and Kukojima (in Sumida Ward). Two cherry trees are in bloom, placing this scene in early Spring. The same photo is also available as postcard (70330-0011).
