Bamboo grove at Gojo Slope, Kyoto. A pedestrian and a jinrikisha and its puller can be seen on the narrow road. The attractive bamboo fencing was used to prevent the aggressive bamboo from growing on the road itself. In 1909, this romantic lane vanished when the width was expanded to 7.2 meters.
