View of part of the foreign settlement, Yokohama Port and the Grand Hotel in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture.

The Grand Hotel was opened on August 16, 1873 (Meiji 6) and was soon considered the height of Western culture and elegance in Japan.

The red house on the corner was for many years the residence of Dr. James C. Hepburn.
