Tokyo Meiji 1890s Kazumasa Ogawa

Boats are docked in front of a long row of warehouses in Koamicho in Tokyo’s mercantile quarter of Nihonbashi. The photographer was looking towards Yoroibashi, a steel bridge built in 1873 (Meiji 6), which can be seen in the far right of the image. See blog entry.

This image was published in 1895 (Meiji 28) by Kazumasa Ogawa in Scenes of the Eastern Capital of Japan.
