Kyoto Meiji 1870s Matsusaburo Yokoyama

In the middle of this photo, believed to have been taken during the 1870s, the roof of the Kondo (main hall) can be seen, with the Kanjouin, used for special rituals like prayers for the emperor’s safety, to its left. In front of these two buildings are a row of minka (traditional houses). See blog entry.
