Yokohama Taisho 1910s Ueda Studio

A sailing vessel passes by the Yokohama South Inner Breakwater Lighthouse in Yokohama Harbor, Kanagawa Prefecture.

In the back, the lighthouse on the Yokohama North Outer Breakwater can be seen as well.

Built in 1896 (Meiji 29), the South Inner Breakwater Lighthouse was a 15 m (49 ft) pyramidal cast iron tower.

On 14 April 1958 (Showa 33), the British Cunard liner Caronia collided with the breakwater and knocked the lighthouse into the water. Although the lighthouse was recovered and relocated to a nearby pier, it has been inactive ever since.
