A Buddhist priest stands on a stone bridge at Konkaikomyo-ji, als known as Kurodani Temple, Kyoto. In the back are the stone steps to the temple. Gravestones flank both sides of the steps. The statue of Amida Buddha on the left of the steps was removed and no longer exists today. Konkaikomyo-ji is a major temple of the Jodo Sect and houses the graves of samurai of the Aizu and Kuwana domains who died at the Battle of Toba-Fushimi (1868).
