Osaka Meiji 1900s Unknown

Yotsubashi Bridges (四ツ橋) in Osaka.

The four wooden bridges were located where the Nagahorigawa (長堀川) and Nishi-Yokoborigawa (西横堀川) canals crossed, creating a very scenic spot.

One of the wooden bridges was replaced with a modern one in 1908 (Meiji 41) to accommodate Osaka’s new streetcar system.

Nagahorigawa was filled up in 1964 (Showa 39) and became Nagahori-dori (長堀通). Nishi-Yokobori-Gawa was reclaimed in 1962 (Showa 37) and became Yotsubashi Avenue (四ツ橋筋). The last of the four bridges was removed in 1970 (Showa 45).
