Honcho-dori (本町通り) in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, ca 1890s. The storehouse with the white iron fence is the charcoal shop run by Hiranuma Senzo (平沼専蔵の石炭屋). He ran the Yokohama Bank (横浜銀行), which later became Hiranuma Bank (平沼銀行). Honcho-dori is also called Honmachi-dori in some sources. Maps of the time, however, use Honcho-dori. |
