Yokohama | Meiji | 1890s | Unknown |
The International Hotel in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture. Published in the Far East (October 17, 1870). The hotel was located at No 18 on Kaigan-dori (also known as Bund) of the foreign settlement, and run between 1868 or 1870 and 1906 (Meiji 1 or 3, through 40). The hotel played a large role in introducing cocktails to Japan, and was popular for its billiards room on the second floor. After the Grand Hotel was opened almost right next-door in 1873 (Meiji 6), the International slowly lost its stature. IMPORTANT |
