General Douglas MacArthur (1880–1964) walks to his Cadillac, identified by the five stars, in front of the Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers (SCAP) headquarters in Chiyoda, Tokyo, February 1947 (Showa 22).

MacArthur held the position of SCAP from 1945 (Showa 20) through 1951 (Showa 26), when he was relieved by President Harry S. Truman.

SCAP GHQ was located at the Dai-Ichi Seimei Building. In 2004 (Heisei 16), the Government of Tokyo designated this a historical building.
