PURCHASE A LICENSE

Tokyo Showa 1940s Unknown

Man working with an automated Jacquard weaving loom using punch cards, ca. 1947 (Showa 22).

Originally developed by French weaver and merchant Joseph Marie Jacquard (1752–1834) in 1804, the ability to change the pattern of the loom’s weave by changing cards was the conceptual precursor to computer programming and data entry.
