Tokyo Taisho 1920s Unknown

Streetcars are passing by the Sangedatsumon Gate, the main entrance gate of the Sanen-zan Zojoji Temple (三縁山増上寺) in Tokyo. The gate is also known as the Sanmon Gate.

The two-storied gate was constructed in 1622,[ which makes it the oldest wooden building in Tokyo. It is the temple’s only original structure to survive WWII.

This postcard was published sometime between March 1918 (Taisho 7) and September 1923 (Taisho 12).
