Kyoto Taisho 1910s Unknown

The Zen Buddhist temple Kinkaku-ji (金閣寺, Temple of the Golden Pavilion) in Kyoto, sometime between 1907 (Meiji 40) and 1918 (Taisho 7).

Kinkaku-ji was originally built in 1397 as a retirement villa for Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu. His son, shogun Ashikaga Yoshimochi, converted it into a Zen temple of the Rinzai school.
