To celebrate the 2593rd anniversary of the foundation of the Japanese Empire, patriotic societies walk below the sacred torii gate of Yasukuni Shinto Shrine (靖国神社) at Kudan (九段), Tokyo on February 11th, 1934 (Showa 9).

The day was called Empire Day (紀元節, Kigensetsu).
