Tokyo Showa 1920s Unknown

Young Japanese men carry a mikoshi, a portable Shinto shrine, in front of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on November 21, 1928 (Showa 3) to celebrate the official enthronement of Emperor Hirohito.

This was basically a formality as he had already reigned as emperor since December 25, 1926.
