Tokyo Taisho 1920s Unknown

Pedestrians, cyclist and cars at Tokyo’s Marunouchi district.

The first buildings were built in this former swampland in 1894 (Meiji 27). When Tokyo Station was opened in 1914 (Taisho 3), it became Tokyo’s premier business address.

Because of the many brick buildings, it was also known as “Londontown”.
