Studio Meiji 1880s Kimbei Kusakabe

The bride (right) and groom (left) in a studio reenactment of a Japanese marriage ceremony. By the time this photo was taken, men didn’t wear swords or traditional hairstyles anymore. Interestingly, this postcard was sold in the early 1900s by New York based Rotograph Co, presenting a Japan that had long since vanished.
