Founded in 1873 (Meiji 6) by Japanese industrialist Eiichi Shibusawa (渋沢 栄一, 1840– 1931) as Shoshi Kaisha (抄紙会社), the company still exists. It now is one of the largest companies in the global forest, paper and packaging industry.
