Shiga Meiji 1890s Unknown

View on the Setagawa River (勢田川) and Lake Biwako from Tsukimi-tei (月見亭) at Ishiyamadera (石山寺), a Buddhist temple in Shiga Prefecture.

The location is one of the Eight Views of Omi (近江八景, Omi Hakkei). The Omi Hakkei are the eight most beautiful scenes in the southern part of Lake Biwa.

They are believed to have been selected in the 13th century and became especially well-known through woodblock prints of the same name by Japanese ukiyo-e artist Ando Hiroshige (安藤広重, 1797-1858), also known as Utagawa Hiroshige (歌川広重).
