Kobe Meiji 1870s Kozaburo Tamamura

The unfinished road in the center is Takimichi (Waterfall Road, now Flower Road). It lead to Nunobiki Falls, near the photographer’s location, and followed the old riverbed of the Ikutagawa river, relocated in 1871 (Meiji 4) to prevent flooding of the foreign settlement.
