Nihonbashi Bridge in Tokyo, published in The Far East Magazine in 1871 (Meiji 4). The Nihonbashi Bridge was reconstructed in 1872 and again in 1911. This photograph shows the actual old wooden bridge visible on ukiyoe woodblock prints. Albumen print photographed by Austrian photographer Michael Moser (1853-1912), who was in Japan from 1870 through 1877. When he took this photograph, he was only 18 years old. |
