View of the Bund (Kaigandori) in Kobe after the typhoon of July 4, 1871 (Meiji 4). The photographer, believed to be Auguste Gordes, took this shot from the Meriken Hatoba Pier, facing West. The building on the right is the Hiogo Hotel, under construction at the time. A similar photo was published in The Far East on July 17, 1871.
